Thakadu River Camp
is set within the riverine canopy of the Marico on the eastern side of
Madikwe and is a community owned tented camp. The 12 tented suites
accommodating 24 people each with sliding doors opening onto a private
viewing deck over looking the river are decorated in an ‘Afro-Asian
Safari” feel with the use of natural stone in the main lodge.
There is also an 8 bed satellite camp – Little Thakadu – with its
own private lounge, dining and pool area ensuring privacy and
exclusivity for small groups and families.
Thakadu is part of an
eco-tourism partnership between the reserve, the Madikwe Collection
and the Molatedi Community and has a proud and vibrant atmosphere.
Accommodation
The camp comprises of 12 tented suites, each with their own viewing
deck overlooking the Marico River. Little Thakadu comprises of 4
tents ideally used for exclusive use with it’s own private vehicle
and plunge pool. The tents are large and spacious and have a strong
AfroAsian Safari ambience to them.
Madikwe Air Shuttle
Daily scheduled flights (flight duration is approximately 45 minutes either way) depart
from the Federal Air Executive Lounge, Johannesburg International Airport at 11h15 and
from Madikwe Airstrip at 12h30.
